So long and farewell August!
This month has been pretty shite so I’m pleased to say so long and farewell to August!
For those of you that actually read my ramblings, you will have noticed a distinct lack of posts in the last few weeks. This is largely due to me working several extra shifts and also Steph going back to work after her maternity leave.
I would go so far as to say, for me anyway, that this has been by far the toughest period since having two children. Nearly all of my days off in the last few weeks have seen me either sleeping after a night shift or Steph has been at work. This has meant me spending most of my spare time with both girls on my own.
Now, don’t get me wrong, I love my girls and I love spending time with them and I miss them when I work all the time. But me being overtired the entire time I’m left on my own with a not quite a baby but, not quite a toddler and a 5 year old who reverts from being the sweetest little girl on the planet to a right little madam who tantrums over the most ridiculous things isn’t the best combination!
So this month something had to give. Unfortunately I sacrificed my blog. It was a necessary decision as between work, family and my running, this was the easiest thing to give up. To be honest, I have tried to post but I’ve just been so tired that I’d start a post but would lose the motivation to continue. Other times, I’d get home from work having planned to blog and by the time I’ve sat down I just couldn’t be bothered.
This may not seem like the most positive attitude for a brand new website and venture but from next week I will have more time to get involved with more posts and improving my site in general. My shifts at work go back to normal and Isabelle goes back to school so other than Steph doing her 2 shifts a week, it’ll be more or less back to normality.
As for my running, I somehow managed to get my 100 miles in this month. Most of my runs in the last few weeks have been great workouts, with decent speed over moderate distances and lots of negative splits.
The only downside is I have not raced since my ultra on the 1st July (the remaining race review parts will be up soon I promise!) and I haven’t even been to Parkrun once this month. On the plus side, I have Bristol half marathon booked on the 17th September, I’m looking at doing the Brean Down Challenge 10k again on the 24th and then my big sub 90min PB attempt at Burnham half marathon on the 1st October.
Fingers crossed for a great month of running, races, PB’s and medals!
